📋Overview
COLEDGER is a digital platform designed to connect architects, civil engineers, interior designers and construction professionals with contracting companies. It enables companies to create and manage projects, add team members, share files and collaborate effectively.
Each company can build and manage a dedicated portfolio for every project — providing tools for communication, file management, timelines and problem-solving in one shared workspace.
✨Key Features
- Centralized Project DashboardA single view for managing multiple projects, tracking milestones and monitoring progress in real-time.
- Seamless File ManagementSecure, version-controlled storage for large files including blueprints, schematics and design documents.
- Real-Time CommunicationIntegrated messaging and notifications ensuring quick updates and alignment across teams.
- Customizable SpacesDedicated collaboration areas to share updates, discuss issues and resolve tasks efficiently.
⚡️Define the Problem
Defining the problem is one of the most critical steps for a UI/UX designer — it provides clear, focused direction for the work.
Project managers in contracting companies oversee numerous projects but face challenges uniting interdisciplinary teams. There is no single platform connecting architects, engineers and designers for ongoing collaboration. There is no system to track ongoing work across projects, causing engineers and stakeholders to miss updates — leading to inefficiencies, delays and lack of transparency.
🎯The Problem I Solved
COLEDGER was born as an all-in-one solution for the fragmented nature of construction project management. The platform allows contracting companies to create projects, assign teams and manage all aspects from a single, unified workspace.
👩💻Target Audience
- Contracting CompaniesFirms managing large construction projects with various engineers and designers — they need a robust platform for managing multiple projects, communications, timelines and document sharing in one place.
- EngineersArchitects, civil engineers and interior designers working on large construction sites — they need a common platform to share files, track progress and communicate easily.
🔍Research Methods
Objective: Identify the needs, goals and pain points of contracting companies and engineers managing complex construction projects.
- Stakeholder InterviewsDecision-makers, project managers and team leads from contracting companies. Explored multidisciplinary team challenges, project tracking and platform feature priorities.
- User InterviewsArchitects, civil engineers, interior designers and site managers. Covered current collaboration tools, workflow frustrations, file sharing and ideal platform features.
💡Key Insights
- Need for EfficiencyReducing delays caused by fragmented communication was a top priority.
- TransparencyCompanies wanted real-time project updates and clear timelines.
- ScalabilityThe solution needed to handle multiple teams and projects seamlessly.
- Workflow IntegrationCompatibility with existing tools like CAD software was crucial.
STEP 01
Welcome / Home Page
The COLEDGER home page introduces visitors to a comprehensive collaboration hub — connecting contracting companies with engineers and architects to streamline project management.
STEP 02
Add Project
The Add Project feature lets contracting companies easily create and manage multiple construction projects — from empty state, to add form, to populated project list.
STEP 03
Project Page
The Project Page provides easy access to essential details — team members, files, communication channels — and the side menu organizes everything in a clear vertical structure.
STEP 04
File Sharing
Users can upload files directly from their computer, Google Drive or via a link. Files are organized, downloadable and version-controlled.
STEP 05
Team Management
Companies can create, organize and assign teams for specific projects — with clear role assignment to avoid confusion and ensure accountability.
📊Results
- Reduced Project DelaysThrough streamlined communication and real-time updates, projects are delivered more efficiently.
- Improved CollaborationCentralized tools enhanced team alignment and reduced miscommunication.
- Enhanced ProductivitySimplified workflows ensured teams focus on results rather than troubleshooting.
- Scalable FoundationThe platform's design supports companies as they expand to more projects and teams.
🌟Designing for two audiences
The biggest challenge was building one platform that served both decision-makers (who care about transparency and reporting) and engineers on-site (who care about quick file access and clear tasks). Every flow had to feel native to both.
✨Affinity mapping clarified the chaos
Hundreds of interview insights felt overwhelming — until I clustered them into themes. That single step turned a wall of quotes into the six solution areas that drove the entire product.
